Pies; bites of bliss adored by many and crafted as entries to the British Pie Awards that sit at the heart of British Pie Week which runs from 6 to 12 March 2023 and celebrates the craft and skill of British pie makers.
HSSP Architects are honoured to be invited to be a sponsor of these national awards and we are very much looking forward to seeing what mouth-watering creation wins our sponsored ‘Pasty’ category which has entrants from the north of Scotland all the way down to Cornwall.
Our iconic category will be judged cold. The pasty can be sweet or savoury (or both!), and any shape, size or weight, but does need to be constructed from a single piece of pastry folded over and sealed along its edges to contain its delectable filling and then baked. Hand or machine crimping is allowable, and any Cornish pasty entries must comply with the recognised legal specification of a genuine Cornish pasty.
Nick Cooper is delighted to return as a judge again this year and as part of the judging regime will be casting a critical eye over the pie category he is asked to judge to score their appearance, taste, etc. and whether they meet the category’s requirements.
With 23 different categories, including hot and cold, sweet and savoury, meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan, and free-from, it gives the pie makers’ infinite possibilities with their creativity.
The winners will be announced on 10 March 2023 and we wish all entrants the very best of luck.
