HSSP Architects are delighted to welcome Rashmi Jayasinghe to the team. Rashmi graduated from Newcastle University in 2021 and joined HSSP Architects for a 2022-23 academic placement year.
It was Rashmi’s design and technology teacher who first saw her keen eye for detail and ability when she was 13 years old and suggested architecture as a career pathway for her. She did consider the idea of being an interior designer, but during her internship the architect echoed the same sentiments as her teacher, as he too could see her architectural potential.
Growing up in South Africa she has seen the difference her family’s philanthropy had on local people and the far reaching consequences kindness, humility and putting a roof over someone’s head had on their lives. This lit a desire in her to make a difference herself and to learn how to equip people with their own homes.
Architecture is keeping her enthralled and she is relishing continually learning and applying her keen attention to detail.
Outside of work, Rashmi enjoys freehand sketching and playing with watercolours. She is also one of those very clever people who can bundle a bunch of random ingredients together and create a gastronomic delight…. the hotter and spicier the better!
