With the village listed as a ‘Rural Supporter’, it must accommodate 10% of the borough’s housing needs by 2036. This development provides a significant positive contribution to the 615 new homes required to support the borough deliver against their current shortfall and achieve their target.
Bringing together the three separate sites and outline applications into sole ownership opened up the design opportunities and created a far improved scheme that is also beneficial to the locality.
Situated in a sustainable village location, this formerly vacant scrubland has been sensitively redeveloped to create much sought-after local housing that is finished to a superb standard with luxury fittings and fixtures.
The 36 new dwellings are a mixture of house and bungalow styles with 2 to 5 bedrooms. Arranged in a sweeping u-shaped formation with private rear gardens, hard standing, and associated garaging generally set back to reduce visual dominance. The site slopes gently upwards from the north-west to the south-east with the homes primarily orientated with eaves fronting to the street scene whilst key gable ends bring visual emphasis.
An attractive landscaping scheme including the addition of new trees and hedges, native species planting, and a storm water retention pond that creates a wetland habitat, all provide initial visual impact and sustainable long term ecological enhancements.
