A site within St George’s Park has been regenerated to create a singular hub that brings together functions from across the park and gives visitors a clear point of entry. The placement of the new centre within the site was dictated by the existing hardscaping and by how the building would operate. To allow delivery vehicles to drive into the warehouse, offload, and exit in the same direction of travel, thereby allowing a safe and efficient delivery process, it was placed centrally.
Designed to be accessible and inclusive to all, there is a platform lift to the first floor where the operations room and staff facilities are located. There is an attached but separate tractor store.
Sustainability was encompassed in the design with an air source heat pump, low energy lighting and water flow restricting measures included. Planting of new trees and native wildflowers creates wildlife habits which is a bio-diversity gain as well as creating pleasing vistas.
The hubs’ striking visual presence is created through the profiled metal sheet cladding in a red and navy-blue colourway, which is contrasted with elements of feature cladding in hues of blue, red, grey and white to reflect the national football team colours. These shades continue to internal elements. The feature glazing to the main entrance and the projecting roof provides further aesthetical interest.
