Grade II listed regeneration

It is lovely to follow the progress of a project and watch everything coming together, so it is with great pleasure that we bring you the update that The Lifeboat, Wells-next-the-Sea, has reached completion.

Dating from 1846 and built as The Station Hotel in anticipation of the railways, it remained so until 1967 when it was renamed Tinker’s Hotel following closure of the railways. Grade II listed in 1972 and becoming The Lifeboat Inn in later years, it was the advent of the online holiday home rental market and the expected standards of modern tourism that led to its eventual decline.

The beautiful and considered regeneration undertaken by Solus Homes has reimagined the building into a luxurious seaside residence. Being grade II listed had its limitations as to the extent of the works that could be achieved, but with creativity and a keen eye to restore the Georgian street frontage, the planning officer and conservation officer whole heartedly supported the project.

The house has been expertly interior designed by BARK Design Studios who have captured the essence of the historical era and perfectly fused this with contemporary features. Furnished with bespoke fixtures and furnishings, and fitted with a handmade kitchen by Anglia Kitchens and Bedrooms Ltd, it has brought history to life and revitalised the building onto the next stages of its life path.

We have featured the project on our website.

If you have seen a grade II listed building or a crumbling wreck that you think has potential, why not get in touch with us and we can undertake a feasibility study to see what you can do.
